Honor MagicBook 14, the Windows full-service laptop that combines power with the design

Honor presents its new MagicBook 14 laptop, a laptop with a 14 “screen that stands out for an outstanding balance between performance and price, daring to mount the Ryzen processors from AMD that are giving such good results at the CPU and GPU levels. And yes, It comes with Windows 10.
It is a somewhat strange year for product presentations (and video games, if we put it). Since there are no events, companies are continually advertising products through online activities, which is precisely what Honor has recently done.
The sister of Huawei has presented its new Honor MagicBook 14, a laptop of very contained dimensions that stands out for having an attractive design, small and light, and an exciting fast charge and combo of PCIe SSD and AMD APU that promises excellent results.
The first thing is that manufacturers are no longer irredeemably betting on Intel. The excellent work of the latest AMD processors (since they made the jump to Ryzen) causes us to see laptops and desktops with these processors that stand out for having a good number of cores and threads and, also, for integrated GPUs somewhat more capable than the from Intel.

The AMD Ryzen 5 3500U is the heart of the new Honor MagicBook. It is a processor with a quad-core eight-core CPU at a base frequency of 2.1 GHz and a 3.7 GHz boost. It is built at 12 nanometers, and the default TDP is 15 W. The GPU is the Radeon Vega 8 integrated, with a frequency of 1,200 MHz.
This configuration is accompanied by 8 GB of DDR4 Dual Channel RAM. As detailed in the presentation, the RAM is Dual Channel helps the GPU since it is shared memory and, thus, communicates better with the graphics. The SSD option has a capacity of 256 GB and is of the PCIe type.
In addition to performance, Honor has made an effort to take care of the design following the line of its previous notebooks. This results in a thin profile, 15.9 millimeters, and a weight of 1.38 kg. The body is aluminum, which helps passively dissipate heat while the new fan moves more air to blow heat from the APU out of the computer.
In addition to taking care of the design on the outside. Honor has strived to create a great experience when we open the laptop. The screen is 14 “in a more petite laptop body. This is accomplished with screen frames as small as 4.8mm on both sides and front.
With TUV Rheinland certification, this screen has FullHD resolution and occupies 84% of the front. The trick to minimize frames is to hide the video call camera somewhere else, and as Huawei does, they have tucked it under one of the top keys. When pressed, it unfolds and lets us see the camera and an LED flash. It is also a security measure to ensure that it does not activate when we do not want to.
We have a fingerprint reader on the power button to finish with the hardware. And the battery is 56 wh with a fast charge. It charges via the USB Type-C port with the 65W charger. And Honor promises 46% off the order in 30 minutes. The Autonomy set by the manufacturer is 10 hours on a full charge.

As far as the software is concerned, it has Windows 10 as the operating system. But with some additions of Honor. Such as Honor Magic Link, which allows us to see the screen of our mobile on the Windows dashboard to control notifications. And well, what we want without being aware of taking the mobile while using the computer.
Launch and price
Honor’s objective was to create the most premium laptop possible that could be sold for less than 600 euros. And therefore, the price of the Honor MagicBook 14 is … 599 euros. However, it can be obtained with a 50 euros discount.
And it is that, from June 22 to July 1, if you reserve through the Honor website. You can get it for 549 euros.
